the meaning of IGRP process

Multiple IGRP processes can be configured on the same router, but for routers to exchange information successfully, routers have to use same process number.
I also heard that RIP could be configured with one process on each router. Then what is th point to configure multiple IGRP processes on a router?

You could possibly limit the routers that your want participating in a particular IGRP process to speed up convergence and seperate the network into logical "areas". Maybe? Hmm.... -
networker050184 Mod Posts: 11,962 ModThe IGRP process is the logical routing domain. So for example IGRP 1 would be one process and IGRP 2 would be a separate process.
You can use separate processes on a router if you do not want the routes shared between them.An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made.
