    hi zelo30

If you get a wic-1t serial port card for your 2620 you've come a long way. Ideally you'd need a third switch and an extra router though, but you can do lots of stuff with the setup you have right there.

ok ill see if i get one more router and switch. should i get another 2950? ill try and get a wic -1t serial port for the 2620xm? my third router should be another 2620xm OR 2620 regular? should i get a wic-1t for it also?

    thanks

maybe your 3rd router can be a 2509 or 2511 which you can use for an access server aswell. And it has a built in serial connector. Or go ahead with a 2600xm with a wic-1t.

As for the switch buy a 2950 - they're pretty cheap. Some people go for 2900xl if they're short on funds. And others get a 3550, especially if they know they'll do BCMSN in the future.

You could get a 2950xm switch for pretty cheap or even a 2610xm, and then get 2 WIC-1T's, one for the router you have now and one for the new router. You already have your frame relay switch so you're good to go there. I'd just pick up another 2950 if your low on funds. If not, check out a 3550 if you plan to go on to BCMSN

Preferrably, yeah. Again, especially if you're going CCNP onwards.

    see below for my lab.

I got through the CCNA with that set up, minus the 3550, which is a recent addition.

You do not need three switchs, at least imo. you can set up a vtp domain with two and learn about RSTP as well. The only thing I wish I had had was a Frame Relay Switch, like a 3640. I may get one in the future, but in reality, chances are you will never see a Frame Relay circuit IRL. Thier Kind of going the way of the DODO. Which is why Im reluctant to invest in it.

I base this on the fact that ive worked in the industry for about 5 years and currently work at a data center with 100's of customers in a diverse sectors and have never see one Mostly you will see 100 meg ethernet- 1 GB- 10 GB (either BGP or point to point) T1's, DS3's, some ISDN here and there, OC3's ETC... Never actually had a customer request a FR circuit form us, nor have I ever seen a customer with one.
Welcome to the desert of the real.

    BSCI in Progress...

    Cisco LAB: 1x 2509
    1X2621
    1x1721
    2x2950
    1x3550 EMI
