Cant telnet through Windows Firewall
A little background, I have this server 2008 machine called fire1 and a vista machine called pc1. When Windows Firewall is off, I can telnet from pc1 to fire1. But if I turn on the firewall on fire1 and configure an exception for telnet (one's already there by default), telnet stops working.
Both telnet services, server and client, are running on both machines. There are no other firewalls and no other errors. A netstat -ab on fire1 shows it's listening on port 23.
I have googled this but havent found much. Ideas anyone? Maybe I need to hack the registry or something.
