KSU Center for Information Security Education
The CSIS Department at Kennesaw State University offers a number of Information Security Degree Programs.
                      These include the following:
                      • Bachelor of Science - Information Security and Assurance
                      • Minor - Information Security and Assurance
                      • Undergraduate Certificate - Information Security
                      • Graduate Certificate - Information Security
                      • Criminal Justice Degrees examining Technology and CyberCrime
Also see their CS program at Programs - Department of Computer Science & Information Systems - Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA

Also see Southern Polytechnic State University -

                      Computer Engineering -
                      Southern Polytechnic: Computer Engineering Technology

Both are just north of Atlanta. Kennesaw State has a nice looking campus, and it's the 3rd largest university in GA (behind UGA and Georgia State).

Southern Poly is much smaller, but they're really a technical university. I think they were considered a branch campus of Georgia Tech many years ago. I've attended classes here, and it's a good school, but don't expect a big social experience here.

SPSU has the BSIT program that you can take a Information Assurance & Security technical electives. Another option you have is to go to a technical college and get an AAS in Info sec then transfer to thier BASIT program( which is what im doing).

I know there is a lot of hype about "Networking", but I strongly recommend taking up a Computer Science or Management Information Systems at one of the public universities in Georgia vs a private technical school/online school(Not hating).
                      • Cheaper
                      • You will have a college atmosphere
                      • More of a well-rounded education
                      • Normally has all the major accreditations (ABET, Regionally, etc)
                      • Study abroad opportunities
                      • Typically better job placement
Every CS or MIS program I have ever seen has networking classes. It's normally not taught towards a specific vendor (Cisco, Jupiter, etc). Anyways, best of luck to what you decide to do with your education.

I totally agree with you. The last couple of years I am seeing so many of these "tech" schools creating "network security" degrees. They pray on eager people with hopes of going from working at the auto plant straight to CISO and they have no idea how to set up IIS on a Windows server.

Do Master's Degree programs in information security include studies in the behaviors regarding why and how hackers develop malware e.g., Psychology of Computer Crime?

Probably very little and it would relate to risk management. The degree in general should be very technical and not really theory based. The forensic stuff and pen test bit may touch it but you'll be mastering the how not the why.
