Cisco 3550 Error Loading Flash...

cerberoscerberos Member Posts: 168
Hello everybody, I just bought a Cisco 3550 48SMI with an old EMI image installed, so I decided to upgrade it to c3550-ipservicesk9-mz.122-50.SE3.bin and here the probleme started... After the upgrade I got this Error Message ( Loading "c3550-ipservicesk9-mz.122-50.SE3.bin"...c3550-ipservicesk9-mz.122-50.SE3.bin: permission denied
Error loading "c3550-ipservicesk9-mz.122-50.SE3.bin"), I tried flushing the flash and re-upload it again and still the same error message, also, how can I install the Cisco Network Assistant on the Switch? Any help will be appreciated...

--- System Configuration Dialog ---
Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]:
00:00:13: %ENVIRONMENT-2-FAN_FAULT: System Fault: FAN FAULT is detected.

As shown above there is a fan fault, it only appears when the switch boots, but the weird thing is that when I do show env all or show env fan it shows that fan is okey! Any hint guys? Thanks in advance....

Since the "show version of old ios" show the switch works -- I'd guess a corrupt ios or bad boot command in the configuration

What do you see in rommon?

Do a flash_init and a directory listing of the flash -- is the file there and does the directory/name match the error

Did you try the load_helper & boot commands? Anything?

You can try the upgrade again using XMODEM.

Everybody should do an XMODEM load at least once anyway. Its good practise for if you ever need to do it in the field and its also a huge incentive to never screw up badly enough that you need one.

Remember to change the baud rate though before doing the XMODEM upload since it will take forever at 9600...
