Simple IOS upgrade

I have a Cisco 2513 Router and what I though was going to be a simple IOS upgrade via TFTP has turned in to a major PITA. Here is what I'm doing and using. I'm using Cisco TFTP program and have my Cisco 2513 hooked to the back of my computer NIC via a crossover cable. One end of the cable is in the "AUX" port on the back of the router and the other end is in the RJ45 on my NIC which is connected to my PC. I'm running Windows XP Profesional and I keep getting a no network cable message on the lower right hand of the screen. You know the icon with the two network lights that have the "X" through them. What I'm I doing wrong?

If you're going to TFTP an IOS to your router, you need to have your crossover cable connected to the ethernet interface on your router, not the AUX interface. Make sure you configure your computer NIC with an IP address within same subnet/mask as your ethernet interface IP address. Use the router's ethernet interface as your gateway on your computer NIC settings.

There is no ethernet interface only console and aux.

Your router has a DB-15 AUI interface on it. If you don't have a transceiver, you need to get one to connect to it. The transceiver has an RJ45 input on one end and a DB-15 connector on the other. The AUI interface is your ethernet connection.

Thanks for the info,
After doing some research I found that out last night. Got the transiver today just need to hook it up.
