Configuring SDM

Hello all just had a quick question, I'm watching Trainsignal and I see that chris bryant is using SDM to configure DHCP. Are we expected to know SDM for CCENT/CCNA? I would rather do it through command line.

Given the objectives leave the possibility that we would be asked to actually perform configuration tasks using SDM, is there any way to get hands on practice with SDM without having access to real hardware?

You can download the demo off the Cisco site. You can also install the real SDM into a dynamips router.

Thanks for the tip. I wasn't aware there was a demo. I'll go check it out. I don't think the configuration tasks will be any more confusing than with CLI, but I'm hoping this will familiarize me with running and navigating SDM so I don't end up wasting time on it in the exam.

From what I've read, I'd like to run dynamips, but I don't have access to an IOS license. For now I'm relegated to Boson and Packet Tracer.

Pretty much. You just need to know roughly where things are in SDM. If you can configure it via the CLI then you can do it via SDM. You just don't want to waste time like you said.
