Hey guys!

I just purchased

Three Cisco 2950t Switches
Three Cisco 2651XM Router /w 128MB/32MB DRAM 12.4 IOS
Three Serial WIC-1T w/ cables for my ccent/ccna exam.

I have a quick question about 4 2900XL switches. Will these switches also help me? The guy who sold me the 2651 routers and 2950 switches gave me 4 2900XL switches for FREE:)

Will they helpicon_confused.gif:

Please look at the specs and tell me what you think:

Nice purchase. The Enterprise Edition 2900XL are worth hanging on to. They do all the CCNA requirements but there are a few syntax differences compared to the later switches. Useful for ISL trunking as later switched no longer do this.

Personally I found four switches useful for playing around with spaning tree and channel groups/etherchannel.

Nice set up man! This will definitely be useful and get you passed the CCNA. You could use most equipment toward the CCNP if you go that way after the CCNA. You would probably only need to add a 3500 series multilayer switch to your lab for multilayer switching experience. You can use dynamips as well, it does support "some" switching features but not all are supported by the virtual instance of the routers with switching modules enabled. I have noticed that a lot of stuff like IP source guard, and DHCP snooping won't work with it. But, you'll get to those soon :) if you go the way of the CCNP. Good luck on your studies :) When is the exam? Have you set a date?
