Hi,
I using Boson Simulator for a switch simulation. I connected three switched with each other (all catalyst 2950).
Now I gave ip addresses to VLAN 1 of all switches in same network with same mask. Also, I did "no shut".
Now, I am able to ping Switch 1 to Switch 2 and Switch 3 to Switch 2 (consider that Switch 2 is in middle of the topology).
The problem I am facing is that, I am not able to ping Switch 1 from Switch 3. I did lot of work but problem is still the same.
Please help....
Thanks in advance
Regards

Ratneshnagori,
What "same network with same mask" did you assign to VLAN 1? -

Switch1 - int vlan 1
ip add - 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
Switch2 - int vlan 1
ip add - 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0
Switch2 - int vlan 1
ip add - 192.168.1.3 255.255.255.0
These were the ip add I configured on switches.
Also one more thing, I was able to ping between sw1 and sw3 when I didnt configured ip on Switch 2. As I did that on switch 2, ping was dropping.

Hi Ratnesh,
I took 5 minutes and configured your setup on a lab in front of me and all works fine. I started with 3 "new" 2950s (real) and cabled them with crossover cables from Switch1 FA0/1 to Switch2 FA0/1 and then from Switch2 FA0/24 to Switch3 FA0/24. I then set the hostname on each switch to Switch1, Switch2, and Switch3 respectively. I then set the IP Address and Mask in each switch as you detailed above and then did a "no shutdown" on VLAN1 in each switch.
I am able to ping from Switch1 to Switch2 and Switch3, from Switch2 to Switch 1 and Switch3, and from Switch 3 to Switch1 and Switch2.
Possibly you mistyped one of the IP addresses or you have a bug in your version of the Boson Simulator?

Hi George,
Thanks a lot for doing work for me. Yeah it may be that Boson has some kind of problem.
I will also try on switches as I joined the BSCI classes today...
Thanks again for ur help.

When you mention "...ping between sw1 and sw3..." is the computer that you're pinging FROM connected to sw1 through: a) the console port b) a switch port c) other? -
