I'm an MCSE!!!......or am I?

So I was browsing the MS MCP site to look at my transcript and noticed that I'm now an MCSE. I don't think I should have anything more than an MCSA because I haven't taken an elective. Here is how it looks. Is this right? Should I be an MCSE or not?

    icon_scratch.gif Yeah you are missing the required elective. The 70-620 exam 'is' listed as an elective for the MCSE 2003 but with the note "You can only choose this elective if you did not choose it to satisfy the client operating systems requirement", so that can't be it or maybe that's where they made a mistake.

    Do you have an older MCSA/MCSE?

    Yea, who knows? I've seen people post this from time-to-time. Sort of like how MS says the A+/Net+ combo only works for the MCSA, but people get their MCSEs with it. I think it's sketchy because that's not what the official requirements state, but no one seems to have had a problem with it. You'll probably end up doing the Security+ or some other MS elective in the future, so you should end up covering it anyway. It is odd that they gave that to you though.

    My friend just got the MCSA without having all the exams completed. I believe i saw a note that there was a glitch somewhere in the system and that errors would be corrected. So i believe they are going to strip him eventually. Guess your gonna have to wait and see.

    I was just given the MCSA without an elective. Microsoft customer support informed me that there is a glitch in the database that can't be corrected until the new year.

    I just made MCSE with the following;

    A+, Network +
    70-270
    70-290
    70-291
    70-293
    70-294
    70-297

    Although when I started the whole track in 2007 I was expecting to need an additional elective (I have continued with my original plan and I'm currently studying for 70-284), I wasn't surprised when my transcript updated to MCSE, after reading the many posts on this forum.

    Curiously, the MS site doesn't seem to specify the CompTIA certs that are counted as an elective for the MCSE nowadays; it just says "specific third-party (CompTIA) certifications".

    I can only conclude that A+ and Network+ now counts towards the MCSE as well?

    Then: no more 2003 stuff, Win7 here we come!
