Hey everyone,
Moh from western New York here... I have just graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Security (ISS). I found this cool site while googling "CompTIA Security+ practice exams". I like the setup of this site, especially for putting a special focus on certifications, InfoSec, and related topics. Hope to learn from you all!

Never heard of CCIE before so I googled it... and ummm, I thought obtaining CCNA was the most difficult Cisco certification out there. Hey, you taught me something new.
P.S. FadeToBright, 7255carl, and Firemarshalbill.com... thank you all for the welcome.- CCNP (Work In Progress)

markfoy Member Posts: 1 ■□□□□□□□□□Hello All,
I'm new here and pardon me if this is not the right place for this. I have a passion for PCs - hardwares and average skill in softwares.
My wife sometimes thinks I pay more attension to the PC (I have to admit that sometimes I don't pay attenstion to anything else until I've succeded in tweaking my OS or add a new hardware). However, I dont have any certification or working experience in the IT industry. All of my six years of worklife have been in electrical engineering and I'm seriously thinking of switching to IT.
The question is can anyone be kind enough to detail out a number of the certification out there and what kind of responsibilities such certification will put on you. I need to know b'cos there are tonns of exams out their and I need to know which one gels with my passion.
I'm tempted to go for something in admin but I'm completely open to advice and suggestions
Thanks in advance -

Since you haven’t got any IT experience you will probably need to start off on the help desk as me at the moment.
The certifications that would be useful for you to do are
Comptia A+
Network +
Microsoft Desktop Support.
Once you get a helpdesk job I would start working towards MCSE and when I say that I mean builds labs etc else you just be paper MCSE. I would also get your CCNA.I know while I'm job hunting a lot of employers seem to like the MCSE AND CCNA Combo. If you got a passion for networking then continue with the Cisco Certs.
Regarding responsibility I think that down to the job you do. Passing an exam doesn’t mean you get you extra responsibility. It just in interviews the employer has an idea of what you are capable off.
Good Luck -
