Depends on how generous your company is.
My bonus will probably be working half-day on Christmas eve instead of a full day icon_santa.gif

Most I ever got for a Xmas bonus was 50.00 - Bosses' wife doubled my check amount by mistake.

Usually its just half day off Xmas Eve, but sales have been good, so we are getting that day off with pay, 1/4 off with pay and a floating day next year as well.

Seriously, I know some companies give bonuses, I have never worked for one of these mythical entities though.

Yeah I've heard of these mythical places too, but I'm not sure they exist in our line of work.

I've had some decent bonus's in the past anything from £100- £5000 depending on the company.

Current place cash no chance (NHS lol), but got half day last year and expect the same this year.

Well supposedly I work for one, but they didn't give one last year, and didn't even give an explanation until April... if that b****** happens again this year I'M OUT! (I hate being kept in the dark and lied to...)

I remember I got one Christmas bonus for 800 bucks, that was very nice of them. One other year i got like 600 bucks, that was cool. Last year no bonuses and a company threat to all IT employees not to take any vacation in 2009. Obviously i do not work for this uncle scrooge anymore and i moved on to a better company and im getting paid more! yahoo!

Worked for a few law firms, not quite as generous as banking but very much a work hard play hard ethos. They rewarded hard work in lots of ways.
The real fun though was in the amount of cutting edge technology we got to play with icon_smile.gif

I've gotten between $50 and $2500 depending on which company I was with at the time.
  • dalesdales Member Posts: 225
I got £100 once from my first tech employer, I was so confused I asked the boss if they had messed up my payslip. Luckily for all the places I've worked for since I've never been given a bonus xmas or otherwise.
    Kind Regards

What the hell is a bonus?

I do get 7 days off from before xmas through new years, though.

where I work, we have a choice of either a turkey or a fruit basket...last year, everyone got $20 too. Something tells me that we're not getting any cash this year though - they've cut back our hours and the contract is up for bid (I work for a university through a staffing company) so every penny is being counted. icon_sad.gif

In the past, the most generous bonuses I've gotten were on the order of $1-2K, but that was when I was working in construction. My biggest "bonus" in IT was getting some hardware as a present from my last boss.

I have one customer that typically gives a bonus somewhere between $100 and $500, depending on how their year went. The rest are kind of random.

Man, I kind of feel bad responding after seeing all the down-trodden responses thus far. Our bonuses are given quarterly, and they range from $1-4k based on performance ($2k being average). Previous jobs have done nothing, $100-250 in gift cards, and $500-750 in cash.

Before we used to get gift cards to local grocery stores for 50-100 dollars. My new company not sure what the policy is but we get December 24 through January 4th off with pay which is a bonus for me imo.
  • Been in IT for 30 years firefighting for 20 years (yeah both at the same time) I am not 100 years old. Anyway I have worked at all the big Service Providers and the closest thing to a christmas bonus that I ever received was to not be one of the people that the big companies lay off every year around christmas

I got $250 this year, and I think that's what we got last year. Also taking half the day off on Christmas eve. It's something I never count on so it's a nice surprise. I came here from a non profit hospital, where there's no such thing as bonuses or holidays. And before that I worked for a small phone company where my bonus was a delicious box of Russell Stover chocolates. :D

We provide various security-related services (anywhere from social engineering and pentesting to risk assessments and IT audits), primarily to banks and credit unions.

Prior job was $250-500 which was hit or miss - really depended on how well we did through the year. Current job, basically nothing except an x-mas party but even that is pot-luck so you bring your own food.

A few companies ago it was a $25 gift card and choice of turkey or ham. Last company we received a half day of work on XMas even and the 25th off. The company I am currently at gave us a $25 for the holidays and a notice that we can expect a 1% bonus at the end of Q1 2010.

Our "yearly" bonuses have moved to March or April from December, so this Christmas we get $25 Wal-mart gift card and thanks for working here. I'm expecting a pretty decent "yearly" bonus in that $3-4K range, but it will depend on who is my manager at the time they are given out.
