Client Access License confusion
Qivalon
Hello All,
Anyone help me me cut through the confusion of Client Access Licenses?
I am due to take the 210 exam shortly and I still can't get the Per-Seat and Per Server Licensing straight in my mind.
When would I choose one over the other?
Thanks in advance,
Qivalon~

You would choose Per Server over the other when you have a server with a lot of clients of which only a certain number connect to the server simultanously.
For example, if you have a Windows 2000 Server with 200 Windows 2000 Professional clients, of which only 20 are actively connected to the server, you should choose Per Server on the Windows 2000 server and purchase only 20 CALs.
If you would have multiple servers, with many clients that connect to those servers very frequently (which is often the case with file and print servers) you are often better off with Per Seat licensing.
