free routers I can take

BazWalBazWal Member Posts: 16 ■□□□□□□□□□
Guys,

I had the opportunity to rescue some routers and switches that were going to be thrown out last week.

I got 3 X 3620 routers and 3 X 2924xm switches. I know they might not be ideal but they were free.

Now some more have become obsolete here and I can take them so am looking for opinions on what is good. I'm starting with the CCENT but hope to continue on to CCNP at some stage.

Theres a 3750 which I think I can take. I know this one is good. The rest are,

2503
2621 X 2
2610
2948G switch
also more 2924 switches

what do you think?

The 2600s can be useful. The 2500 and switches are pretty old and will have some command differences.

Thanks I might take those 3 so. Should I bother taking the 2948G. Is it any better than the 2924xm's I have already?

It could be useful, but some of the commands will differ from current switches. Also, the 2924s you have are XL, not XM. XM is a router.

get the 3750, sell it, and get yourself some 2600xm's and 3550/2950's for the money.

On another note, the 2600 and 2500 is ok for ccna :)

I wouldn't bother with the 2948G's, unless you just want some more port density for home applicaton. They run CatOS, so they won't really be much help in prepping for any exam

    Thanks guys,

I didn't bother taking the 2948G. so what I have now is,

    3 X 3620 routers
    2 X 2621 routers
    3 X 2924XL switches
    1 X 3750 switch

Mens - I might sell the 3750 at some stage if I'm limited with what I have.

Pick up a cheap 2950 and you'll have a pretty decent CCNA lab. The 2900XL range has some differences in commands than the newer models.
