Paul Boz Member Posts: 2,620 ■■■■■■■■□□I work as a security consultant to hundreds of banks and credit unions and can attest to how difficult it is for many of these organizations to keep up with the criminals that are attempting data breeches. A criminal can react much faster to changing technologies than an organization because of the costs and complexity involved. It is very hard for a bank or CU to implement a new online banking authentication method then approach sr management six months later saying it's not enough.
That being said, many of the faults in security occur due to a lack of future planning by the management and IT staffs at these organizations. People are very quick to act on "what's hot" and never spend time looking into the less popular technologies and opinions. If CUNA or the FDIC mention multi-factor authentication the banks and credit unions follow. Rarely do they have recommended solutions in place before they're told they have to.CCNP | CCIP | CCDP | CCNA, CCDA
