Hi,
I will start in few days with learning for 60-642 exam.
I have bought the book of MS Press. I would like to know how much time did you spend on it to take this exam succesfully. I know that this can be different from person to person as it depends on the knowledge of the things needed for the exam, but maybe you can give me some advices how did you learn to pass the exam succesfully as soon as possible.
thanks
best regards

MentholMoose Member Posts: 1,525 ■■■■■■■■□□I started studying for the 642 exam immediately after passing the 640, and it took about a month. The networking stuff was still fresh since I passed CCNA about a month before the 640. I went through the Sybex book and did all of the labs enough times until I was comfortable.MentholMoose

I took it 2 weeks after 640, i think. Also took a few betas in that time frame area as well.
Its not a bad exam. 643 is a booger though. -

Im sorry is there a problem with that?
There werent too many topics on the exam that were foreign to me, so I focused on learning what I didnt know and did minor review of the stuff I already knew. -

No problem my friend...
You are not so clear in your previous post and for this reason I asked.
Thanks for your quick replay. -
BradH Member Posts: 160Mine was about 1 month after 640. I was studying for about 2 weeks however not full on, when my boss goes to tell me he has an exam voucher which needed to be used within 2 weeks or the end of June. So I basically spent a lot of time including free time at work studying and passed. Also had access to some excellent network engineers to get me through the IP side of 642. Cisco has some excellent doco on subnetting. Also used subnetting questions which is a website to practice subnetting. Might have been a little over the top for 642 but a pass is a pass.EA Path - 70-643 - Passed - 70-680 - Passed - 70-647 - To Complete

Piers Member Posts: 454 ■■■□□□□□□□because of the most recent 2nd chance offer from MS, I accelerated my reading and did 642 in two months (feel slow compared to others here).. That involved reading the MS Press book through with notes and labs, doing ALL the MeasureUp test questions on the CD, re-reading the book again, focussing on the weaker areas and re-assessing my notes, reviewing the rest, RE-doing all the test questions, and then taking the test:study: Office 365 70-347 / 698 later

valen Member Posts: 37 ■■□□□□□□□□About a month, but I don't have a lot of free time to study, so that month is probably 6-8 nights at about 4 hours per night. I'm a CCNA, so I have the IP networking stuff down. I only had to brush up on the changes in file/print sharing, NAP and a few other things. Be sure to check out the 70-642 resources thread at the top of this forum, I found it full of excellent resources.
