Professional Organizations?

Hey all...just wondering if I could get some feedback/ideas on technology professional organizations that I may want to look into. I'm already a student-level member of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), but I was curious what organizations other folks here are in. Org's that also have student-level memberships would be my main target (for fiscal reasons mostly!), but I won't rule out those org's that don't have student memberships.
I'm considering joining a women-in-technology type of group as well, so if there are any suggestions on that front, I'd really appreciate it.
(We did have one thread on this topic a couple months back, but it was targeted towards networking/security, just thought I'd go for a general one to open it up to other areas.)

+1 for ISSA if you're interested in security. -

I am a member of several professional organizations, they are:
American Society for Quality
ACM
American Psychological Association
ITSMF
Institute of Service Management
ISACA
Notably, I'm not a member of PMI (no value-add for me).
My business partner is very involved in WITI - Women In Technology International , if you're looking for a professional organization focused on women.

It hasn't yet, but I'm hoping it'll benefit me in the future. You see, I'm a big-picture kinda guy, and I'm hoping that the connections I'm cultivating at present will pay off in a decade or so. -

unsupported Member Posts: 192From a security perspective, I'm a member of ISSA (https://www.issa.org/) and my status is pending for Infraguard (InfraGard - Public Private Partnership -Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)).
I would recommend for general purpose to look up your local WUG (Windows User Group) or LUG (Linux User Group).
For security related, but the "darker side", you can look up local 2600 user groups (Welcome to Meetings!) or BinRev meetings (Binary Revolution Forums). Just be careful with what you say/do at these meetings.
For auditing/governance you can join ISACA (ISACA® - Serving IT Governance Professionals).-un

A sound plan I think. About the time you're getting out of prison, these young men will be in a position to hire you.
