Other than Net Admin jobs, what other jobs are out there?

something other than the traditional net admin position for people in the IT field? i have no idea what else is out there, where to look, or even if i saw it if i'd be able to recognize it.

Depends on your experience. IT guys are needed for sales support, implementation projects, ongoing support/maintenance, auditing/surveillance/government compliance, etc.

Database Analyst or a Database Modeler,Database Administrator,Network Security Analyst,Web Developer, a Web programmer, or a Webmaster,Multimedia Developer,PC SupportSpecialist, Help Desk Technician.

The list is pretty endless. The only real defning characteristic is if you want to do hardware or software support and even those lines are blurring.

hmmm, i see. unfortunately i dont know where to look for any of those jobs, or if im qualified. well, im definately not a db admin, i mean, i can keep a cluster up and running but i dont know what else is necessary. i have 8 years net admin experience, but unfortunately its all been by myself so i have no idea what else is out there.

Have you looked at a engineering position where you are given requirements and come up with a solution that will work. With 8 years as a admin you are prob more than enough ready to do that.
