info about ccnp certfication

hi,
I have some confusion i hope experts can deal with it , for CCNP there is prerequisite of CCNA i want to do ccnp certifications as my company is asking me but can i do direct CCNP or ccna is important . what will happen if i give ccnp first then ccna cert

You have to have the CCNA to get the CCNP, as you said, it's a pre-requisite. You can take and pass all the NP exams, but you won't officially be an NP until you take and pass the NA exam(s).

As ColbyNA said, you can take the CCNP exams before the CCNA exam(s), but you won't be awarded CCNP status by Cisco until you've taken the CCNA. I had a boss that was doing his CCNP and his CCNA expired before he could finish up the last exam, (he took a long sabbatical between the third and fourth exams,) so he had to take the last CCNP text, then go re-take the CCNA the next day before the CCNP status showed up on his online transcript.
