Microsoft licenses
Hi guys,
I am new to the forum. Do you know about Microsoft server licenses if I can upgrade (the hardware) of Windows Server2003 standard edition and what do I have to do regarding license. Do I have to call Microsoft to activate the old license for the new hardware upgraded server 2003?

Was the original license an OEM or retail box license or was it acquired through a volume licensing agreement? -

I am not sure if its OEM or retail but either way I want know. I think it might be OEM because its on a Dell server with a sticker. -

Then yes it's OEM and is non-transferable. In other words the license is locked to that physical server and cannot be moved when the server is replaced - i.e., you need to buy a new license.I am not sure if its OEM or retail but either way I want know.
