Amber Syst light on 2950 switches

Corndork2Corndork2 Member Posts: 266
I just got two 2950-c 24 port switches from ebay. After POST the syst led stays amber. This is because the fans on the switches aren't spinning up. I checked it via the EN FAN commands etc. Is this a serious issue? The temp in my lab is fine, and the temp inside the switches are in normal range too. As long as this remains constant, can I still use them with no worries in my lab?

If the switches still work and this is purely for lab purposes then the nonfunctional fans won't be much of an issue. You can open it up to see if there is any damage to the fans or the fan wiring. Switches are designed for operation with all the ports active and installed in a stuffy wiring closet somewhere.
