Finish CCNA or Concentrate on Security Tools
the_Grinch
I'm at a cross roads on what I want to do. I know I don't want to do too much more helpdesk/field tech related work. I did find that I enjoy working on servers and networking equipment, so I wouldn't mind doing something in a data center or NOC (not too many of those in my area though). My ultimate goal is to get into a security related position (pentesting, risk assessments, disaster recovery, incident handling/management, or physical security). My question is should I finish my CCNA (not finding a lot of jobs in the area looking for it) or concentrate on security tools (NMAP, Metasploit, Linux, python, Wireshark, etc)?

Finish it. The knowledge is always nice to have and it looks good on a resume. The CCNA is one of the first certs that are expected of our engineers.
