Vista WSIM question..
Ricka182
Greetings..
Where can I find a copy of install.wim?
I'm trying to use WSIM for the first time, and everything I read says I need to open that as an image file first. Okay, I can do that..no wait, I can't.. I don't have a Vista DVD to copy the .wim file from. I am given an image file on disc with Vista on it, already in .gho format. I then have to make a few changes, install apps, etc..and then create a new image to deploy to my groups. All I want is an updated XML answer file, because the one I have now is old and partially incorrect. Is it possible to pull the .wim files from a machine running Vista?

no the wim wont be on a running machine. You need to find the installation media someway/somehow. Request it if you have to, you will have to have it.
WSIM builds a catalog that references the WIM to get the component information that can be included in the answer file.
