my company is laying off 20% of IT staff

I work for a large multi-national corp. They are getting rid of 20% of their North American IT people by the end of this month. I guess the unemployment rate will go up and make getting an IT job even more competitive. I don’t know how many people that is though.

    I’m not in the IT department. Been trying for ages to get in but that’s a another story. I’m assuming this will eliminate any possibility of me getting in. They have been cutting all kinds of people for a while now. I need to get out of this place but jobs are scarce.
