tiersten Member Posts: 4,505It is interesting that there seems to be a properly organised operation behind this. It isn't just a couple randoms who thought it'd be cool/funny to hack those targets.
These techniques are ancient though. The newsworthy part is that its involving some big name companies like Google. I remember hackers doing stuff like this and social engineering years ago. The IM and webmail hackers do this all the time. Hack a victim and then try to propagate through their address book or contact list.
I'm wary of links that my friends send me anyway because of some of them have gotten hacked multiple times and generally most of the links are pretty crap -
Paul Boz Member Posts: 2,620 ■■■■■■■■□□Stuff like this is why it's important to be private about what you do and where you do it. It's understood that important people have access into data networks via laptops and smartphones and that subsequently, if one gets ones hands on said access devices they can also get into those networks. That's how numerous bigtime data breeches have gone down.CCNP | CCIP | CCDP | CCNA, CCDA
