Storage to use with veeam

Hi All
A am intrigued by Veeam's backup and replication software, especially after being a long-time user of their free products. I am wanting to at least do full backups, but am not sure what kind of storage requirement I need. Do i need to use something off of the HCL? Can I use a NAS device, or does it need to be FC SAN. Our current environment is ~30 VMs on ESX 3.5 with an enterprise grade license, including vcenter. We will be upgrading to vsphere before doing anything.
I feel very ignorant on this, so feel free to point out the obvious to me.
Thanks!
John
