Ok .. here is the deal. For three days I have been trying to fix this problem. My IE Browser home page continues to default to about:blank no matter what I do. I have been online and I have found many resources in regards to this problem and I have tried most of them. I have tried all the spyware / adware and antivirus software .. none have worked. I read somewhere that it had to do with removing 2 .dll files and that would fix it, however I could not find them. So .. I am at the end of the rope here, I dont know what else to do .. I dont want to reformat but this is killing me. If anyone has anysuggestions I would appreciate it ...

Sounds like you do have some kind of prog that has screwed your system.

Things to check are your hosts file and various start-ups in your registry. Not everything is removed by Adaware or Spybot. Empty your Temp folders and in W2K/XP make sure your prefetch folder is also clear.
In Contol Panel\Internet Options enter an address in the bar manually and hit apply - then open IE and see if it sticks.

Get the VX2 Cleaner addon for Ad-Aware from Lavasoft's website.

Follow the instructions on the web page to use it to see if what you have can be cleaned with this.

Also try using Webroots Spysweeper.

Get the 30 day trial version. This software catches alot of stuff that the others will not.

This is a really powerful tool for removing stuff that's screwing up IE. Just be sure to research stuff before you delete it. Not everything HJT finds is bad and you can potentially screw your system up bad by deleting the wrong things.
