Hi IT folks,
I'm switching career. I'm going for a network admin job. I'll be dealing with networking/voice, and interacting with other departments like the Server dept. and the IT Sec.
I'm on my final preparation for BCMSN. Should I continue for CCNP, bearing in mind the new syllabus? should I switch immediately to voice (to better prepare for the job tasks) or should I get into some security?
My future company will provide basic voice training. But troubleshooting will be part of my duties.
your input is welcome

I would try to knock out the NP as it will increase your value. You make it sound like you'll be doing mostly Voice work, if that's the case then maybe the VP is the way to go. Not sure how Security fits in at all. -
impelse Member Posts: 1,237 ■■■■□□□□□□There was a time where I was studying what ever I think the company where I work would need, so for a few weeks I study this and that, etc, etc, etc. So I lost to much time and I discover the really important part is study what you want and COMPLET THE CERTIFICATION. Try to finish your CCNP (this will help you in your new job) and when you really know that you need for your job you can take other track. You will never know how everything will end, so keep your track.Stop RDP Brute Force Attack with our RDP Firewall : http://www.thehost1.com

Paul Boz Member Posts: 2,620 ■■■■■■■■□□Professional level networking is critical for anyone that wants an enterprise level job administering VOIP, QoS, and many other exotic networking technologies. Complete your CCNP because it will prove more general competency. Only then should you branch into specializations.CCNP | CCIP | CCDP | CCNA, CCDA
