MS Project Viewer?

Does anyone know of a way to view a Microsoft Project 2007 file(.mpp)? I have over 50 users who either need or want to be able to do so, but have already run out of licenses. At +$500 a pop, there is no way I can get approval for more.. Some people only need to view the project file, but there is no M$ Project viewer available. I can't use 3rd party software either, because whatever I choose would have to go through an approval process that takes on average 15 months! And there's no guarantee I won't wait 15 months, and then get denied...

Someone mentioned they could be viewed as an .xml file, but if I just change the extension it doesn't work...

Any ideas?.....

Yeah, thanks for that guy... I have already tried searching...

If you actually read my post, you would see I need a way to view a Project file, and not a Project viewer software...

ok well this is the first on the list says "LiveProject Free Project Viewer lets you open and view Microsoft Project plans (.mpp files) without having Microsoft Project installed. ..."

You can export the project to another file format, such as excel:

You can use a third party tool to integrate with SharePoint:
Project Publisher, SharePoint Project Management, Connect Microsoft Project to SharePoint

Of course, there is always Project Server

Project Server = Denied
SharePoint = Will ask local SP admin what she knows
Excel = will try that as well..

Also, I tried saving the .mpp as a PDF but the issues lies in that if there multiple lines, all lines must be fully expanded or Adobe does not display them..and some of the smaller projects have nearly 2000 lines.. No one is going to go through and expand all of them. Besides, it took almost 20 minutes just to do the conversion, in which the machine was practically useless..and it's fairly new machine with good hardware specs..

We use this one: Viewer for Microsoft Project: Steelray Project Viewer

But I can only confirm it works with MS Project 2003 files, didn't have any 2007 yet. The license is like for free compared to the full MS version

Have you considered setting up a sever with MS project installed using Terminal Services and allow users to connect via remote desktop?
