When the 2511 boots or in show ver, does it actually see all 16 async lines? The 2511 I've got is missing a couple screws from the bottom which secure the daughterboard that does 9-16 and it had shaken loose during shipping. Open it up and check if yours is correctly plugged in.

It does see all 16 async lines..but to be honest, that sounds like my best bet at this point. I'll have a go at it tonight.

Took the cover off, reseated the ASYNC card..no luck..same results. I sent an e-mail to CiscoKits (where the router came from), but so far they seem hesitant to do anything that would fix my problem. At this point I'm waiting on them. If I need to purchase a new 2511 I will, but I'd like to know one way or another. In the meantime I'm making all my CAT5 cables. It's taking a while but it'll be worth it.

I'm going to finally, for the first time since the gear arriving, actually stop working on cabling the rack and do some labbing with what I have set up..I've spent so much time lately worrying about cabling and IOS images, I haven't gotten to actually play with any technology.

    ANY thoughts?
Post your line configuration and your show lines output and show version output.

Do you have no exec configured and have you tried clearing a line and trying it again? Make sure the octal connector is firmly secured (and no bent pins) -- and do you see any activity light on the router next to the async port when you try connecting.

Here's where the rack stands now..I've got almost all of the switch cabling done, still got a few (6 I think??) short CAT5's to make then those will be done. Still have to wire most of the routers to the switches, though. Serial cabling is messy unfortunately, but I tried.

Classic..that guy is hilarious! ....."Stop touching mee!!"

She's actually been very cool. The only change so far is she wishes I would have used purple cable. I kind of agree, the orange stands out a lot..although that's exactly why I used it originally. The good thing is the wall blocks most of the rack from the main part of the living room, so you don't see most of it.

Edit: It's also worth mentioning, 100% of the cable on the left of the rack is all the octal cable and loose CAT5 which I haven't run yet. I left the octal cable out for now since CiscoKits wants me to send the 2511 back to them.

About to pull the 2511 to send back to ciscokits, they'll be sending a different one to me...

In the meantime, got almost all the CAT5 done, just about 5-8 lines left, which shouldn't be bad. Had some troubles getting the FR switch setup, some weird layer 1 problems. Good to go now, just configuring all of my frame route statements.

FINALLY finished the CAT5 cabling. I spent a lot more time cabling this thing up then I thought I would. I'm happy with the result, but WOW was it time consuming! Oh well.

Here's the "final" pic. The only thing missing at this point is the 2511 which is being returned to ciscokits, and the octal cable..which is partially seen in the pic on the left..I think I have one or two more serial cables left, but that won't change the look too much. I've gotta finish the frame switch config when I get a chance, then I'll add those. I'd say in 2-4 days I should be completely up and running..I hope. Minus the terminal server, that is.

    Looks good!

I still think your 3640's are backwards hehe

Alright, I'll give you some enjoyment...I'm still happy with the rack (including the 3640's :)), but I did have about 10 minutes where I had to swap modules around (misplaced a WIC-1T, and decided to move one of the 1E2W's...where I REALLY regretted having them 'backwards', because it certainly made changing those modules a pain with how I placed the rack. That being said, once I finished that, they were OK. The front of the rack looks good, but the back isn't so clean thanks to all the power cables and stuff.

The UPS guy that delivers stuff here must really be in shape, because I've yet to actually see him..he just knocks, sprints to the truck, and is gone when I open it. He's more like a ninja then a UPS driver really.

Received the last 2 WIC's. Finished all of my cabling yesterday, and unless I made a mistake, I didn't actually need both of these final WIC's. Think I may have miscounted or something, but either way, I have an extra WIC-1T. From here on out it's onto configuration again..I decided I wanted to fully cable it first instead of jumping around between cabling and config of the frame switch.

    Onward!

Ugh. I've all of a sudden started having some strange issues with BB2, bad enough to the point it won't boot properly. I took the memory out, reinstalled it, and it seemed OK for a minute, then it went back to not booting..or getting stuck with what looks to be a corrupted image. I decided after this happened to not spend anymore time troubleshooting it for now, and just went to the setup of having BB1 and the frame switch be the same device..this works since I had bought an extra 2500. I still hope to get the 2500 up and running so I can use it somewhere, but it's not that terrible.

In other news, upgraded my 2611XM's, and other 2500's, as well as the frame switch. Think I'm good to go at this point, just kind of verifying it's all good at this point. I might give a shot at my "first" INE Vol I lab..need to redo some of those.

Man, I missed most of this while I was in lockdown cramming for the ONT. Good stuff bro, what hardware are you using for your BB2? I had a problem with mine last night while trying to write some of the configurations. Seems my IOS version doesnt support the commands. While I have the same version, well roughly the same, I dont have the same hardware. Maybe I need a newer version of IOS, I dont know, but it was really **** me off looking in the feature guide on Ciscos website and seeing the functions should have been included with my ENTERPRISE IOS version.

I'm using a 2503 for BB2, with 12.2(15)T17. My 2500's, well- specifically BB2 has been pretty shaky. Sometimes it boots up fine, works..usually it doesn't. I'll probably swapping it out with an extra 2500 I had, same image. I have a feeling this 2500 has a serious hardware problem, it doesn't seem to be the image itself, although that could certainly be the case.

I was looking at the feature navigator as well for your image, and it looks like it should support IPv6. What's the filename of the image you're using?

Sold off my routers and consolidated everything into a simpler rack.

I'm based off this topology at CCIE Lab Preparation Resources
