USB to RS232 adapter work for hyperterminal buying new lapto

I'm buying a new laptop and I noticed majority of them dont even have serial ports on them anymore. Will a USB to RS232 adapter work for hyperterminal in order for me to program my routers and switches? Anything else I should know or look for?

drewm320 Member Posts: 68 ■■□□□□□□□□Yes they work with Hyperterminal. I've used two different models, one is a Keyspan and works great with my HP laptop. The other was a Belkin model that wouldn't work at all in my laptop but works fine in a co-workers.
Check the store's return policy before you buy, just in case. -
tunerX Member Posts: 447 ■■■□□□□□□□I use the microinnovations adapters. I bought a 4 port mini USB hub and have 4 of them connected. As long as you keep plugging it into the same USB port then your com port numbering will not change.
