Upgrade Path from MCSE 2003 to MCITP:EA

I'm trying to figure something out about the upgrade path to MCITP:EA.

If I was to go and get the MCSE 2003 by passing the Windows Vista test rather than Windows XP...does that mean when I went to upgrade from MCSE to MCITP I would only need to pass the 70-647?

The Vista exam counts towards the MCITP:EA, if that's what you're asking.

That doesn't answer my question.

If I get my MCSE using the Vista Client test do I need to take an additional client test to upgrade or can I use the same client test for both certs?

If you get the MCSE with XP you have to take the Vista or 7 test...if I get the MCSE with Vista do I not have to take an additional client test?

The thread you linked to does not mention this (that I see).

It would count in both instances.

Where it doesnt count is that it cant be the elective and client exam for just the MCSE, but it CAN be the client exam for MCSE and then upgrading to EA

On this page Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) you will see the Vista exams that count for MCITP:EA.

MCSA 2003 + 70-649 (Upgrade) + 70-646 (IT Pro: Server Administrator)

This is the clarification I was looking for.

I have the Security+ so that will be my elective...thanks for the help!

Now I just need to decide whether or not there is an added benefit of having both the MCSE and MCITP:EA or just the MCITP:EA.
