I'm looking to take this test. My first question is do I still have time to do the old test, if so how much longer?

2. Any tips or tricks?

3. Does the Cert ever expire

4. If you fail are you out the money you paid?

5. Anything else you want to add?

I believe that studying hard and labbing is going to be good for the test. I think you should (depending on you experience level) plan to study 1-2 months for the test. I want to take the new version by August. I am going to use several pieces of material which I will document here: http://www.techexams.net/forums/linux/49571-linux-coming-months-5.html

I think you should go for the new exams. You will get the LPIC-1 and the Linux+. Unless you have some good reason why you want to take the old exams, I think the new exams will be more valuable for you.
