atif7865atif7865 Member Posts: 1 ■□□□□□□□□□
I just took my ccnp bsci and failed it. I was sure I would be able to pass it as I had studied hard. but something went wrong.

My current exam material are as follows:
CCNP BSCI official exam certification guide: fourth edition.
along with CBT NUGGETS from cbtnuggets.com
and I use GNS3 for my labs

IS THERE ANY SOLID RESOURCE THAT CAN GET ME THROUGH ALL THE SUBJECTS.

there were a lot of things on the exam that wasnt included in this book.(is it a right version by the way)

You can give the self study guide a try. If that isn't enough detail for you check out the Routing TCP/IP books.

Study up on your weak points and pass it the next time around.

Don't feel bad about not passing the first time, the BSCI exam is tough. Gather some more material, add it to your mental toolkit, and get back on that horse!

Six months ago, I failed the BSCI using the exact same resources you did. Truth be told, the official certification guide is not adequate to pass the exam. Jeremy tried hard to present all the material in the CBT Nuggets videos, but it's just not possible to cover everything

The first thing that I did after failing it was post a question similar to yours, and several people suggested the self-study guide by Teare. Although I've only read a few chapters and glanced through the rest thsu far, it seems to cover the material in a way that is more like what I remember being on the exam.

Since my CCNA was set to expire not too long after I failed the BSCI exam before, I switched to the CCNA: Security exam, since I was pretty well ready to take that exam already. It was a better for me to not risk having to do the CCNA over again as well. Now I'm set to take the CCNA: Voice exam and then will put my sights back BSCI. Study materials will be the Official Certification Guide, Self-Study Guide, Boson Simulator, CBT Nuggets, GNS3, several live routers and revenge in mind.

Oh, and I will probably take the new SWITCH and TSHOOT exams thereafter to finish off the CCNP.

Unless you've been working for a Cisco Business Partner supporting large enterprise organizations, odds are you don't have the knowledge and experience to skip straight to the Exam Certification Guide. As others have already said, you probably want to read the Cisco Press BSCI Authorized Self Study Guide by Teare.

The Nuggets are great for pointing you towards the most important topics, but they are not an independent and complete stand alone self study option.

For Lab work, some people here have tossed in the BSCI Lab Portfolio to their study preparation. While the Lab Portfolio guides you through the Labs, you should be doing more than just looking up answers or following along on hardware (or emulator or simulator). Some of the tasks may be just to get you the meat of the lab -- and you should recognize that. Some of the tasks are the basic configuration steps -- and hopefully you know them and should try to do them first just using the command line. And finally they may toss in the step or two near the end that really tests your knowledge and comprehension of the topic of the lab. If you can't sit back at the end of the lab and see what they wanted you learn the exam will give you a hard time.

Double check the BSCI exam blueprint on The Cisco Learning Network Website and make sure you understand all the topics they list. If you see a topic that doesn't make sense to you, you need to go back to the books or ask someone about the topic.

Try and learn as much as you can about each topic, and practice as much as you can of the "hands on" tasks. It's always better to "over study" then to "under study."

If you still feel a little exam-shy after reading the Authorized Self Study Guide, some people turn to Chris Bryant's Ultimate Study Guides. I think Chris does the TrainSignal Videos for the Cisco exams. You still need to do your basic study and build your knowledge foundation, but then Chris (and his study guide) could be the guy to get you past the exam.

Good Luck preparing for round 2. icon_study.gif

This is a tough exam because it is kind of complicated material...and a lot!!! I feel like I know all the stuff but i dont get the 90% in the TestOut exam that they say I need to get a "pass guaranteed", therefore I havent booked the exam yet.

I have studied for a crazy amount of hours. Ive done so many labs that i've even got bored. I think the TestOut exam might just be simply harder than the actual exam because ive read Bryant's guide a couple times. The official study guide, most of the chapters in Routing TCP/IP vol. I.

I think Bryant's guide, TestOut material and Routing TCP?IP are great. The guide I dont feel too hot about...but it's ok. TBH, I started reading the self study guide for BCMSN and was soo excited about the material and i think it's mostly because im bored of the BSCI already...repeating all this so much is getting old...

I just wanted to let you know how tough this can be. Dont be discouraged. Keep at it and eventually we will learn the material to the level Cisco wants for a pass. We have to :p.

I also study for BSCI and here is my study material:
CBT Nuggets for introduction and TrainSignal for the real in depth thing.

Thebryantadvantage-The Ultimate BSCI Study Guide (for this book I have to say that I sleep with it, repeating every day until the new things get into my blood). And it's good if you have TrainSignal videos..

Don't get down, I also failed the BSCI exam my first try! However, the best thing you have with you now is your exam results. Look through there and find out what sections you did not do well in. If you scored less than 80% in anything (Or alot of things, like myself), plan on relearning the subject inside and out. I am going to be picking up the self study guide when I start back on the horse, and then I will be reviewing Chris Bryant's Train Signal videos.
