Problems copying tapes to dvd on vhs/dvd recorder

I decided to copy my vhs movies over to dvd using my vhs/dvd combo player. I have ran into some issues though with copy protection on some vhs tapes. I have read some solutions to get around this such as copying it to a pc using a tv tuner card. Is there a simpler solution to this problem? It would be nice if anyone out there sells drm-free vhs/dvd recorders. Any help is appreciated.

Buy a Time Base Corrector or see if your DVD recorder has a key combo that disables Macrovision detection or if there is a mod available for it.
Personally, I'd just buy a new DVD copy of whatever it is that you're trying to transfer. The picture quality from the tape will be awful and it won't be helped by you transcoding it onto the DVD.
