601 & 702 for the cert?

Hi guys,

Im new to the forum. Forgive me if this question has already been answered. I just took my certification for the 601 today, using a voucher I had from about 4 months ago. I passed. So does that mean all I need to do is pass the 702 since they changed the objectives and I'm certified, and my 601 will count as the 701? I sent an email to Comptia, but was hoping someone might know on here.

Thanks

    Hello, Aceman
    Welcome to Tech exams

I’m pretty sure that the A+ (2006) objectives are retired. If you wanted to attain the 2006 A+ certification, you would need to take the 601,and one of the following exams 220-602, 220-603, or the 220-604. If you pass both exams you become A+ certified. Although, Comp tia has retired the 2006 exams, and replaced them with the A+ 2009 objectives and exam material. I highlighted the date that they will retire. I think your best bet would be to call Comp tia. Here is their number…

The existing CompTIA A+ 600 series exams remain relevant and are in use by organizations and educational institutions throughout the world. The English version of these exams will retire in the U.S., Canada and South Africa on February 28, 2010. The English version will retire in the U.K., Australia and New Zealand on August 31, 2010. The educational versions of these exams (JK0-601, JK0-602, JK0-603 and JK0-604), as well as the German, Korean, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese translations of the 220-601 through 220-604 CompTIA A+ exams, will remain in the market for use until August 31, 2010.

    I hope this helps
