Besides SDM(obviously) what else can't be done in PT?

I am in a cisco security class. I do have routers at home if I need to do anything in sdm, but putting something in PT is so much faster and easier, so I was wondering, how functional is PT in security? what commands do not work and what not?

I cannot tell you anything that is not on the exam objectives BUT I can tell you that you will need REAL IOSes to run this one (or a very good memory). PT will NOT cut it.

I'd also suggest avoiding PT for the Security prep. I didn't use PT for my Sec prep so I can't say what will or won't work with it. You can never go wrong using real routers.

Ok thanks guys thats kinda what I figured, I'll probably set up my stuff soon and get a real thing going, I know my lab is good enough(2 2600s maxed out, a 837 maxed, a few older 2500s, and 2 2950 switches) I suppose gns3 is a option, but honestly its a pain in the ass, would be great if it ran perfect on a laptop. But I suppose running a few routers might be ok

Just for the record: The Cisco Network Academy uses PT5.2 for the CCNA:S

I would recommend using a real lab, but PT is handy for a quick test, or when having a cheeky study session at work

Cisco's "Packet Tracer"

ok Related to CCNA:S here is what i have found to not work in PT

1) superviews
2)login quite-mode
3) we cant set custom traps for SYSLOG [default is debugging]
