In JNCIP exam book R 6 & R7 connects to rip router.

R6---Rip
172.16.40.0/30
R7---Rip
172.16.40.4/30

These routes are summarize on R5 as follows

area 0.0.0.20 {
area-range 172.16.40.0/28;

How come it is summarized by using /28 mask?

Also in EBGP case study these routes are redistributed in IBGO using /29 mask.

    Does the book really show a /28? I guess that would work but a /29 is definitely the better choice since it's more specific.

    When in doubt go for the most specific.
