WiFi site survey software
Just thought I'd share some free software I found that works pretty well for a wireless site survey. It's called HeatMapper from Ekahau. It takes a email address to download, but I'm sure you can use a throwaway one if you're worried about spam. If you've got a building layout, you just scan it in and when you're in a room, click on it. Be sure to click as you're going down the hallways.
I got about 3/4 of the way finished with our first floor and realized that my laptop seemed to be getting heavier, so next time I'm using a push cart. Once you're finished and back at your starting point, just right click to finish the survey. I screwed up and right clicked about halfway which screwed it up, so I get to do it again! Still, it's nice to visualize where we're weak on wifi access.
