Ivanjam Member Posts: 978 ■■■■□□□□□□@j23evan - know the elements and standards of reasoning as well as the fallacies, and:Watch their recorded webinars and actually sit in on a live one. I watched the webinars and sat in on one and asked a few questions.
Like you, I got 73% in my first attempt at the pre-assessment and 66% in my second. I brushed up my knowledge of the elements and standards of reasoning as well as the fallacies and watched all the webinars and ended up with 81% on the objective assessment.
@Hypntick - I'll send you a PM - thanks for the offer.Fall 2014: Start MA in Mathematics [X]

Richards90 Registered Users Posts: 3 ■□□□□□□□□□@DACP I know how that feels, i felt the same way with my enrollment counselor as well. It took forever for my military stuff to get to WGU and my enrollment counselor could never remember what we talked about the previous weeks. Just like kgb said study up on any information that you want to knock out right away.

arwes Member Posts: 633 ■■■□□□□□□□I passed the pre-assessment for WFV1 a few nights ago and my mentor said she never got the results. Have any of y'all had this happen? I really don't want to do that boring thing again. I emailed the course mentor to see what she says, but I don't see any way to look at my previous test scores.[size=-2]Started WGU - BS IT:NDM on 1/1/13, finished 12/31/14

arwes Member Posts: 633 ■■■□□□□□□□Nope, there's not even a link under the Pre-Assessment column. There's a Pre-assessment link for CLC1, I took it just to see how I'd do and got 71%. It's got the report link under it. But WFV1, LAE1, LUT1 and QBT1 don't have links in that column. In the course menu, under Preparing for Success and Take the Pre-Assessment it has the following info (which I completed):The pre-assessment assesses your knowledge of the content covered in this course of study. Your performance on this assessment will help gauge your skills so far and help you determine which areas you need to focus on when studying for the exam..
Access Site Development Associate Practice Exams, click "Overview", and complete the following:
Web Foundations Associate Practice Exam
The Web Foundations Associate Practice Exam is a random selection of 85 questions similar to the official assessment. There will be 30 questions from Internet Business, 30 questions from Site Development and then 25 Network Technology. You will have 105 minutes to take the test. Note that you can review the questions you missed after you take the practice exam. The review portion will help you study any material you missed.
You can also take any of the practice exams, quizzes, reviews as many times as you need.
I found that if I go to that, then click the My Progress tab, it shows that I passed the Web Foundations Associate Practice Exam on 1/2. Hrm.[size=-2]Started WGU - BS IT:NDM on 1/1/13, finished 12/31/14

arwes Member Posts: 633 ■■■□□□□□□□^^ congrats!!
@Reseven: Yeah, I sent her an email detailing how I found the score...I'm assuming she has access to our stuff on that site (at least she did during our first meeting). I just got an email back from the course mentor and she said that student mentors won't get a notice when the practice exams are taken. Soooo, how are they supposed to know we passed? LOL
Edit: Just got word from her that I'm good to go, so yay! Going to see about taking that test Monday.[size=-2]Started WGU - BS IT:NDM on 1/1/13, finished 12/31/14

KeithC Member Posts: 147WFV1 pre-assessment is located in cert partners website under my progress.
CLC1 I finally passed on my third attempt. What helped me was talking to a knowledgeable course mentor . . . and not only learning the elements and standards but actually applying to different situations.
boredgamelad - how long did it take for the evaluation? I'm hoping to submit my capstone this weekend. -
boredgamelad Member Posts: 365 ■■■■□□□□□□My proposal paper was evaluated, sent back, and re-evaluated within 24 hours. The Capstone paper I submitted at 3 AM yesterday was evaluated and returned today at 1 PM. So, pretty quick!

KeithC Member Posts: 147Awesome thank you. My technical writing only took two hours to evaluated for both submissions.

geekoncall Member Posts: 33 ■■□□□□□□□□Not to scare you but my personal experience only, Green Check Mark was a fail. Usually, when we get green check mark, we are unable to re-take assessment which automatically puts us on wait for 3 months. I see you took your assessment on 22nd Dec, that was begining of holiday season, usually if we fail, we get email within 2-3 days with results and reason of failure. As you haven't got email, so personally I think you are safe.
I failed on first attempt, in writing part and got email within 48 hours with my results that I didn't make into writing and now must wait 3 months. I re-attempted after 3 months, I completed all 4 parts but didn't get any green check mark and than after 3 days, I got email from enrollment counselor that I passed assessment. I still have without green marks, something like I can re-rake any part, not sure if its same for everyone , but just wanted to share my own experience.

I'd say this is just a coincidence that you didn't have the green check marks the second go around and passed. I took my tests on like the 30th, all have green check marks, and I confirmed yesterday on the phone that I passed the readiness assessment. I mean think about it, a green check mark equaling fail doesn't make much sense anyway. -
geekoncall Member Posts: 33 ■■□□□□□□□□Agreed, this is what I said in my post that I am not sure if its gonna same for all ( that was my personal experience that I got green check marks and failed but than I passed and still there no green check marks lol), so after reading your post, it's for sure something particular, maybe a system error etc in my case. But speaking generally, having green check marks means we are done, because we have only one chance to try, either fail or pass. Once we get green check marks, that means we are done with our "try" and now either we pass or fail, we will get confirmation.
I will fully agreed to give them call, best way to know the status of assessment.

phaneuf1 Member Posts: 131Am I the only one who have yet to open a book at WGU (except for the it certs). I passed all the objective and performance assessments without reading anything. Multiple choices exams are just too easy in my opinion. I'm under the impression that in a Normal school, I would have failed big time!

Hypntick Member Posts: 1,451 ■■■■■■□□□□Generally most of the assessments etc. can be passed without cracking a book if you have a basic understanding of the subject matter. However if you're just going through trying to pass the assessment without absorbing anything, are you really getting anything out of the class? Not saying that everyone really needs some of the classes provided, however you're paying for them, may as well make the most of it.WGU BS:IT Completed June 30th 2012.

Good to know! I just started my first CIW class and the terms are killing me. Some of there "definitions" are not what i would consider standard and it makes it hard to really learn their answers. -

arwes Member Posts: 633 ■■■□□□□□□□So far it seems that much of my time at WGU is spent waiting LOL. Waiting on scheduling, waiting on Taskstream, etc. My webcam isn't going to be here until Friday, so I'll be taking CLC1 at the local library during work hours because they don't proctor on weekends or after hours it seems. And I'm taking WFV1 tomorrow, which looks to be pretty simple. I finished up the essay for LAE1 earlier, just waiting on Taskstream to open up so I can get it submitted now.[size=-2]Started WGU - BS IT:NDM on 1/1/13, finished 12/31/14

nosoup4u Member Posts: 365Pretty much.
You need to schedule and get approval for things you want to do about a week before you actually want to take the exam, which is waiting on your mentor to approve, then getting the date scheduled and or a voucher and time conflicts at the testing center. -
Ivanjam Member Posts: 978 ■■■■□□□□□□S...waiting on Taskstream, etc...
On another forum (WGU Students) this incessant checking on Taskstream to see if your task has been graded and released is called "Taskstream stalking" - I found the moniker uncannily poignant.Fall 2014: Start MA in Mathematics [X]
