How is the learning resource for this class? Any good? Any other outside resources you guys recommend? How long did it take you to complete this class? Did you go through the whole learning resource (it's pretty long, like 34 sections) or did you only concentrate on certain parts? I'm starting this class and I'm not sure what to expect as I have no experience with programming or HTML so I'm a little intimidated. I'm also not too thrilled about the learning resource being an e-text. I find it harder to learn than if it were hands-on video tutorials like LabSim.
Psoasman wrote: » @haunt - the CUV1 isn't too difficult. The CIW prep materials are all you need for the course. The course mentor, David Kidd, put together a video telling what to focus on. I actually went through all the labs in the course and that helps as each exam will test on different areas. I took about 5 weeks to go through this one.

I know what areas I need to improve on, although I'm still disappointed in failing the exam. Does anyone here have advice on passing CVV1?

Really need to find some level of motivation otherwise this could end up with me dragging things out longer than I need to. Having a ton of projects at work is also taking a lot out of me, got home last night at 6 and was asleep at 7:30. Unfortunately one of the projects is ongoing and won't wrap up until around October. Come on second wind!

Security+, ITIL, CEH, CISSP, GREM. Will any of those help shorten my time? Was thinking of their Masters degree for IT assurance.
Nemowolf wrote: » There are no substitutes for certification courses other than having the cert already. The only real way to make a case though is to apply and try to get through the evaluation and potentially challenge something you don't agree with. PS: Passed DHV1 today. Updating signature!
Psoasman wrote: » You can always appeal an evaluation. Full degrees and certs that WGU provides transfer in very well. I had a few classes from a different college I went to transfer in. It really depends on the course, though. 33 CU's is still good though. Keep in mind that even if you still have to take the course, if you have the knowledge, that course will be much easier than if you are starting out from scratch. For example, I had to use APA format for EVERYTHING at my community college. That made it easy to knock out several papers in less than a week at WGU.
