    while cs has dev work in it for sure, there can be theoretical tracks to it (and lots o math/sci -- schools handle this diff). you dont have to do compiler design/os design if you have other options allowed if you want to keep dev aspects minimal. much of cs (for me anyways) was designed around concepts and theory. you got shown diff langs, however those were at lower levels.

    roughest class i took was: cmsc 452 Elementary Theory of Computation

    at the time i thought computers could do anything. this class i struggled to believe for a bit... not sure how this class may have been offered at another school...
