I juts bought an Aironet 1242AG, I went and I reset the AP by pressing the mode button while plugging the power cable. I see that the AP has 10.0.0.1 default address. So, I went into my MAc and I setup my computer Ip as 10.0.0.10 with 255.255.255.0. When I try to ping I get the following:
Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
Request timeout for icmp_seq 2
Request timeout for icmp_seq 3
- I went into the router and I assigned an ip address of 10.0.0.1 just in case, but no luck. Can anybody help me out. I also try to access thru the web browser, still no good.

tiersten Member Posts: 4,505Fa0 is part of BVI1 which is requesting a DHCP address using the MAC address of Fa0. You should give BVI1 a static IP or use whatever the DHCP server has assigned it. Fa0 shouldn't have any IP address if it is part of a bridge group.
Run "sho ip int bri" to see what is the assigned IP address. -
tiersten Member Posts: 4,505Thanks, is working now.
You should upgrade the firmware on your AP. Cisco lets you download the firmware for their APs with just a guest level account. The latest I believe is 12.4(21a)JA1 for an autonomous AP1242AG. Make sure you get the autonomous version and not the LWAPP version however.
