RIP and OSPF

Hi,

If I have a router which has a RIP network on one interface and an OSPF network on another interface, how will they communicate? As their metrics will be different?

    Hi,

Do you mean how will the router route from one to the other? All the routes get put into the same routing table, it doesn't matter what protocol it comes from. Metric will only come into play when AD is tied. So if you have an OSPF and RIP route to the same destination the OSPF route will win out and be placed in the routing table.

If you want to exchange the routing information between the two protocols then look into redistribution. A little bit of googling should get you started on that.

Route Redistribution is exactly what I needed :)

    Thanks
