642-832 passed
Passed the TSHOOT exam today! Officially a CCNP now. The test wasn't
quite as scary as I thought it would be, but at the same time it isn't a
push over. Good luck to everyone else attempting it in the near future.
Off to the CCIE R&S V4 cert guide now. Woot!

Chipsch Member Posts: 114As soon as the official TSHOOT guide came out i purchased it. Was also studying as soon as they announced the blueprint. Another huge aid was
the fact that i spend a large majority of my day troubleshooting and designing possible solutions for a campus network with nearly 500 cisco routers/switches with 7000 users. That alone gave me a huge advantage i think while going into this test. -
billscott92787 Member Posts: 933Definitely a congrats. Must be nice to get that pass. I'm still waiting on my TSHOOT results from the beta period, since Cisco decided they want to be retarded and not released them when they said they would. But that's the way the cookie crumbles right lol.

Chipsch Member Posts: 114Yeah the beta situation is pretty lame. I actually took the beta at the local pearson vue testing center but the exam kept crashing on me. At 1 hr in and not even seeing a simulation I said the heck with it. With this out of the way, a HUGE voip project coming our way, MPLS additions, and additional duties as required (gotta love working for the government) I should hopefully be heading back to the private sector eventually where the pay is substantially higher and there aren't "quite" as many chiefs as there are Indians.

Yeah I know what you mean. I'm about to just pay and take the test again for the real exam so I get results right away. I've almost finished preparing for my ONT exam. I'll just move on and go take it if I don't get the results here in the next day or two. Can't wait around on Cisco. I know what you mean with the government thig. The government always does this backwards... I mean organized. LOL. -

Congrats.
Let me know if you want to start a study group for the v4 R&S. I've done the written, I just need to brush up for the lab.
As for the TSHOOT exam though. Is there anything you can tell me about it without breaking NDA? Simple things like if they switch the topology on your frequently or if it stays the same throughout. I assume the non-simulation questions are going to be about "technology-based practices and a systematic ITIL-compliant approach to perform network troubleshooting" to quote the Cisco TSHOOT page. Again, I don't know where the NDA begins and ends so sorry if this is over the line for the forum and Cisco's rules. -
Chipsch Member Posts: 114To Nuul, I saw your post and your current occupation. That being said, it can be safe to assume that you have some experience troubleshooting ip networks . Trying to avoid breaking NDA and all, it would be safe to say that those of us out there that have that time spent in the trenches fixing a variety of issues have a bit of advantage going into this test. Please don't get me wrong though, you WILL be thrown for a loop here and there. All in all though this is hands down the best test I have seen so far from a certification standpoint.
I appreciate the offer also for the CCIE study group. Will have to take that into serious consideration. Going to be taking it nice and easy though due to the fact that I am going to school as well to finish my comp science degree. Not to mention the wife aggro, hehe. Best of luck to you with the test. -
Nuul Member Posts: 158Oh man, even while in school you pulled this off? Double congrats. I'm sure it's been a long hard road but anything worth doing is.
I hear you on the wife aggro. I've already been telling mine not to expect to see me except for an hour or two a night from July to December. For those months all I'll get to do is sit in front of a screen and occasionally yell/swear at it. The first thing my mentor told me when I told him I was going for my numbers was: "you can have no social life for the 6-12 months you spend preparing for the lab, so consider yourself warned."
