Hi,

I've just upgraded my Cisco 2503 to IOS c2500-is-l.123-26.bin

The error message below comes up every time i reboot the router.

%SYS-4-CONFIG_NEWER: Configurations from version 12.3 may not be correctly understood.
F3: 15457184+882248+906148 at 0x3000060

do you know what is the problem?

I didn't save any command in startup-config, except

hostname routername
enable secret routerpassword
wr mem

that's about it.

Do you have any idea?

I believe its just your router saying... you're updating the config to a new IOS version. Its letting you know that not all commands may be valid.

i was searching using the first statement:
%SYS-4-CONFIG_NEWER: Configurations from version 12.3 may not be correctly understood

hmm...i hope it's just a message and nothing will go wrong with the operation....

Yea, I dont know how you would have searched for that, I just got lucky with google.

The easiest way to see would be to erase your startup-config and see if the message goes away. It shouldn't be a big deal now since you don't really have anything in it.

I did. After i erased the nvram and reboot, the message didn't appear.

When i did a enable secret password and saved and reloaded... the message appears again.

When you do a show run it will have the version in your configuration at the top like "version 12.4". If the IOS version is different than the version that built the config you will get that warning to let you know some things might not work the same way.
