Unfortunately the world isn't in black and white so they generally make you look foolish.

One of the biggest metal studios out in Sweden (run by Fredrik Nordstrom for those interested) has had the amount of people going through his studio significantly decrease, and has considered shutting down as its been hard to make money from it. Now to people who don't know metal, it may just sound like a small time studio, but some of the most influential metal records in the past 20 years came out of that studio. Another example is Mattias Loren, an AMAZING graphic artist who specialised in CD covers, band art, logos etc. As a result of people not buying the records, he went from being quite prosperous to having to stop doing freelance CD art and the like to go and work in a 9-5 graphic studio. A complete waste of a talented artist in my opinion. I'm sorry but the people who think its a blameless crime have just never looked beyond the charts, this is hurting so many people who have an actual passion for music, not a passion for raking the cash in, they are the ones getting hit. The people who listen to music to sample it, and then go out and buy it are great, I do that myself and I know a lot of others that do. However I also know enough people that have bought about 3 records in the past 5 years and yet own 100-200GB of music that they have no intention of ever paying for.

I can't afford a Ferrari but that doesn't mean I should just go steal one.
