Study Guide and Resources List for 70-647 MCITP: Enterprise Administrator
This is still a work in progress. I've just started studying for the exam myself and I need to clean up some of these links as well as update some of the areas to reflect the addition of R2.
Thanks in advance.

Claymoore Member Posts: 1,637647 is more of a why exam and not so much of a how exam. The earlier exams covered the little technical details and MS will now expect you to put those details together into a larger solution.
Earweed's resource guide includes a link to the Infrastructure Planning and Design Guide solution accelerators. I have used some of these documents in my consulting work and I think they would be helpful for this exam. Walking through these guides can give you insight into the decision-making process that Microsoft prefers and thus uses on the exam.
For example, Step 1 in the AD Directory Services Guide is to determine the number of forests. The guide explains that you should start with a single forest and why you should (or should not) add additonal forests. This overview of the 'Microsoft Way' could help avoid some confusion during the exam. -

EDIT: I just checked and the IPD guides have been updated for Server 2008 R2.
According to Prometric the 70-647 now contains content pertaining to Server 2008 R2. No officially word yet from Microsoft and the skills measured, as of right now, have not been updated.
I will update the skills measured section at the top as soon as MS changes it toreflect R2.No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -

There are numerous threads here with comments and impressions of what we struck in 647.
First is my 647 thread:

And a general thread with many comments about the exam and study methods used by various people:

earweed Member Posts: 5,192 ■■■■■■■■■□I'll be adding more to the original post later. In studying for the exam I missed a lot of pertinent technologies when I started this resource thread. For one thing the exam's been updated to Server 2008 R2 since I started it and MS has also changed some of their technologies. They now use Forefront UAG and Forefront Identity management. Direct Access has also been added with R2 and Windows 7.
On the books I listed I should note that some are better than others.
Syngress book- worse than useless, the authors wrote the book before the final version of Server 2008 was ready for release and didn't even know enough about it to have written a book.
Darril Gibson Book- Good book actually. The most useful part about that book are the questions in it. If they included the answers with the book it would be worth the price. (It's priced high BECAUSE it's a college textbook)
MS Press- best book of the group. Be sure to study the case scenarios and do all the practices. The Second Edition (which will include R2) hasn't even been mentionned as being written yet or if it will be.
Sybex book- good as a supplement to the MS Press book but I don't recommend using it on your own UNLESS you are one of those experienced professionals who already has a lot of experience with the technology.
Server 2008 R2 Unleashed- an excellent supplement to the MS Press book but it doesn't even mention some of the new technologies that will be on the 70-647 test like Forefront and Direct Access.
Being as NONE of the major reputable practice test site or video training companies have updated their material yet then I wont even mention them here. I googled 70-647 last night and checked the braindump sites and they are all updated (figure that) with R2 material. The BD sites even have Case scenarios in their tests. Didn't use any BD's but was almost tempted to just to have access to R2 questions.
I used Labsim and that is an excellent resource. It would have been better (It will be if and/or when they update to 2008 R2)
Also, many thanks to LCA for the added links he gave. I tried to update the original post but apparently you can't edit an old post after a certain period of time. I've contacted the Webmaster to see if he can let me get back in and edit the original post.No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -

So, for this exam presently there's no R2 study texts, other than the orange Sams Unleashed R2, which isn't great at covering the R2 stuff in your opinion? -
