I have a friend who has been working at a Helpdesk for about 5 years and should have all the skills necesary to pass the A+, but he is hesitant to spend any money on training materials. Do you know of any free study guides or practice tests that may help him?

You can find some here MC MCSE: MCSA, MCSE, MCITP, MCTS, CCNA, A+, Network+, CIW, and Linux Certifications .
Your friend could also check out on this forum the first 2 threads are resource lists which contain links to articles which all combined may get your friend where he needs to be. Really though, your friend should just break down and fork out a little money on a good book.No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives.
