INF file to update Atheros AR5B91 driver?

I have been searching for an upgrade driver for my notebook's wireless card. The Atheros site has a INF file to enable 5ghz. How do I install that file so that my card will now run on 5ghz as well as 2.4?

The manufacturer (Acer) does not have an updated driver on their website. Is it as simple as copying this INF file to the driver folder for my wireless card?

If Atheros supply a driver package then just download and use the whole package. There shouldn't be anything specific to your model or brand of laptop in there if it is just a WiFi card. You don't want to be mixing and matching files within the driver package unless you know what you're doing as it may cause issues.

I take it that when you right-click the .INF file, the option to 'Install' isn't available?

Nope, just the option to download, that is it.

put it in c:\windows\inf and try the update driver wizard.
